My Halloween Prize

My most favoritest place to go cropping here in Fort Collins is Capture. In the month of October they had a promotion - Bring a Friend to class or crop. We got lucky and as long as we went to a class or crop, our names got put in the drawing.

The drawing was for Halloween goodies from Little Yellow Bicycle - their Frightful collection. And if you truly know me, you know how much I LOVE Halloween!

Anyways...I won the drawing!!! Yippee!!!!! Second time I won a Halloween prize from them! The first time was a Halloween Finished in A Flash kit - won during the regular crop night door prize drawing.

I'll have to post pics of my latest win laters. I was so surprised to have won all those goodies. Suzanne and I were talking and she said there is easily close to $100 worth of things! Oh me, Oh My!!!

I'm also on their blog...check it out!

Amazing Paper Grace and Blog Candy

I'm going back in time on this because it has been FOREVER since I've blogged.

I have a new found love since staying at home, looking on-line at various blogs - craft blogs that is. I can't believe all the Creative people out there! Oh my goodness! I have a hard time remembering to check all my fave places.

Anyways...I had found out about this one blog via one of the Yahoo groups I'm in. I've checked out this lady's blog every so often. I decided to check out her blog again, to see her new creations. I got there at just the right moment because she had announced she was giving away Blog candy!

What's Blog Candy? That's where you go and check out that person's blog. They usually have a question for you to respond to or have you link their blog to your blog and they pick a winner from all the responses.

Well...I posted my response on this lady's blog. I checked back at the appropriate time and found that I didn't win! :(

Then one night, I decided to check out her blog again, as I remembered she had some cute things on there that I could make for Christmas gifts. I saw that the person that she had drawn earlier and that she had pulled another name. Guess who's name she pulled? Yup, yup. It was mine!!! WhooHooo!!!!

What did I win? I won a set of Nestabilities - Star shapped. Nestabilities are the newest toys that I am loving. Yes my Cricut can do some cuts like the Nesties...but not completely. But with the Nestabilities, you can cut AND emboss!!!!

AnyHoo...that's it for my Blog Candy post. Oh...check out Amazing Paper Grace - Becca does such AWESOME work!!!

Doing the Happy Dance

So, living here in Colorado makes me listen and remember songs that deals with Colorado (gotta love my new home state)!!! And during the holiday season, I LOVE hearing this song by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band called Colorado Christmas.

I finally decided I needed to buy that song. I looked high and low on I-tunes and could not find it. I've even gone to Wal-Mart and other stores looking in the music section for it. Ohhh...I just couldn't find it. I was even getting a little desperate and was going to check with some of my friends to see if they had it.

Then last night I remember Wal-Mart had music down-loads and thought I'd check there. I was doing the happy dance when I searched and found my song on there! Ohmigoodness!!!!

I finally bought it and down-loaded and am listening to it as I type this. I'm soo, sooo HAPPY!

Sooo...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

It's SNOWING!!!

I love the weather here in Colorado. Yesterday we got a little snow. It was enough to color the ground white and slicken up the roads in time for going home traffic in the evening.

Watching the weather report last night, they predicted we'd get a little more. The temps were going to drop down very low though.

Imagine my surprise to wake up and have Brent tell me he might be snowed in!!!! We had at least 8 inches in front of the door. It's still snowing!!!!

This is a nice amount of snow, we're getting here. My girlfriend, who lives in Severance - a few towns over to the east of Fort Collins, got some snow over the weekend and we didn't (at least us in the west side of Fort Collins).

It is pretty nice to see the white stuff. Good thing I was smart enough to get my grocery shopping done on Monday. Not that I had planned it that way, I just got lucky. I'll have to remember to check out the weather report daily and plan my days.

Well...that's it pancit!

Why?

Gee...why is it I can't come on here and blog like I should? Why is it that I don't do everything I should? Why, why, why?????

I don't know. But I will try my hardest to get on here and post things!

Beginning Card Class: Flower Birthday Card

Here is the last card that I did for my up-coming card class. For this one, I wanted to show my 'girls' that you don't really need a lot of stamping stuff in order to make cards. I also wanted to have them try stamping with Clear stamps.

Cardstock: Cypress cardstock from The Paper Company

Pattern paper: Brenda Walton 6x6 Desginer papers from K & Company

Ink: Handsome Hunter (SU)

Stamp set: Simple Sentiments (Technique Tuesday)

Flowers - from my stash

Gemstones from Hero Arts

Emerald - Baby Rick Rack from Wrights

Beginning Card Class: Birthday Present Card

Here's the fourth card we are doing:

Cardstock: from The Paper Company (Brocade and Cypress packs)

Pattern Paper: Pink & Brown Stripes (The Paper Studio)

Ink: Basic Brown (SU)

Stamps: Year After Year and Warmest Regards (both SU)

Other:

Ribbon: from Sweet Treat Ribbon SKU#444552 (from Michael's)

Twine: Brown (bought at my lss)

Button: from American Crafts Item #82128

Beginning Card Class: Male Birthday card

Here's my third card. I was asked to do some 'male' themed cards. Thanks to my girlfriend Madonna, who let me borrow her stamp set (Bareback).

Cardstock: The Paper Company (Cypress and Brocade packs)

Pattern paper: Country Large Stripes (The Paper Studio)

Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU)

Stamp sets: Bareback & A Little Birthday Cheer (both SU)

Beginning Card Class: Cupcake Birthday Card

Here's the second card in my Beginning card class. I should say that all cards are Birthday cards for my Beginning Card class.

Cardstock: All from The Paper Company (Brocade and Butter cream packs)

Pattern paper: Easter Time Flower/Pink Dot by Pebbles Inc.

Ink: Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Pink Passion (all from SU)

Stamps: Cause for Celebration (SU) and Happy Birthday 01 (Stampabilities)

Other things:
Pink Flock (from Hobby Lobby), 2-way Glue (SU), Yellow stickles, Glass beads (Darice), Black Glaze (Sakura)

Here's what I did:
For the cupcake frosting, I used the Pink Flock.
For the candle, I used the Yellow stickles.
To make the cupcake paper darker, I used the Black Glaze (kinda makes it like embossed without actually embossing)
I used the beads and put it around on the yellow cardstock.

I also stamped 'Happy Birthday' inside the card.

My lastest Cards - Driving By - Beginning Card Class

Well, I'm doing a card class that a girlfriend wanted me to do. It's amazing what I can do when pressured! LOL!!! Since one of the ladies that is in my class has not done cards before, I needed to make these as easy as possible, without lots of 'frills'.

Here's my first card:
'Driving by'

Cardstock: Green, dark blue and beige - all from The Paper Company - Brocade and Cypress packs

Design paper: Hampton Kennedy Blue/Green by Scenic Route Paper Co.

Ink: Basic Black (SU)

Stamp set: Loads of Love and Loads of Love Accessories (SU)

Behind on Postings

I guess no news is good news? I haven't been on here for awhile! I've been a little busy.

Friday, before Labor Day, I covered for my dear friend Lori and worked for her. It was strange getting up to 'go to' work!!! I know people were glad to see me and I was glad to see them. No offense Lori, but I love, LOVE staying home now!!! LOL!!

The following week, I went back to work again for my boss, Bradley's, birthday. I made him such a cute card!!! I used my Cricut, Playful Pups cartridge for it. I normally like to at least layer my cards once, but when I'm pressed for time and don't have any great ideas, I don't do that. Bradley's card was one of those. I needed to get his card THAT day. I really loved that I did. I need to see if I took a pic of it and up-load it.

Talking about up-loading pics, I do have some that I need to post here. I have been working on some cards for some swaps on this one Yahoo group that I'm in. I will post them as soon as I send them out and it's received. I don't think I want them seen before the intended receivers see it.

I worked on two of those cards when I went to a crop night at my FAVE scrapbooking store here. Cathy and I, actually had a nice day on that day, Friday. We met for lunch. And then we went to Joann's super store in Loveland and Hobby Lobby. I went home, packed my things and headed over to Capture!! I'm glad that I did at least get two sets of cards done!

Saturday we didn't do much. Did our grocery shopping. I got another new Cuttlebug embossing folder. Later that night, I finished a Halloween deco square swap. So I get to mail that out with my Blue and Purple card.

Today is Sunday. We're watching football - New England and Kansas City. We're rooting for the Pats - LOVE them!!! Even though I lived in KC for a few years and Brent's lived there many more years, we don't cheer on KC very much.

Tonight is the premiere of True Blood on HBO!!! I made Brent get HBO on Friday just for this show! It's based on the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris. My other dear friend, Dawn, and I have read ALL the books so far in the series and we love it! So we are both seriously looking forward to this show. I hope it's good. Though the guy that they have playing Bill, doesn't look the way that I had seen him in my itty-bitty mind! LOL!!! And the guy that plays Eric, is TOTALLY not how I pictured him! OH well!!!

Anyways...that's it. I'll have to up-load pics soon!

Learning a new StampingTechnique

I am so, so happy with myself! Carrie had posted a technique that she uses when she stamps and other ladies joined in on the chat too - this is from a Yahoo group that I am on. I watched and read and believe it or not, learned!

The technique is using colored pencils, blending stump and Gamsol (mineral spirits). I stamp my images with Stazon ink and use Prisma colored pencils (beware, this is not cheap) to color an image. I then dunk a blending stump in Gamsol (which I had to go to two different art stores to find). And then I go over the colored image. You got a really nice colored image!

I can't believe how easy it was to do! I was experimenting with different coloring techniques using pastels, watercolor pencils and watercolor crayons and not getting the 'look' that I was wanting! This technique is just perfect!

I'm working on coloring a House Mouse image (it's a Christmas image with Hop-It and Bumble - bunnies). Once I'm done coloring it, I'm going to use it for a Christmas card that I'm going to use for a Christmas card exchange on a Bunny group.

Tuesday Fun!

I can't stop thinking about all the fun I had on Tuesday the 19th. It started with me picking up my friend Madonna and driving down to Westminster to meet up with our friend, Cathy. We met at Archiver's and jumped into Cathy's car to go out breakfast. We ate at this place that takes you back to the 50's - sock hop, juke box, Elvis, bobby socks - you know what I mean, right? Oh....and the music, gotta love! Really, I do!

After breakfast we head back to Archiver's. I do a little shopping and then head to the workroom. Madonna, Cathy and I chatted for a nice bit. I helped Madonna mounted the stamps she bought from me recently. Then I tried to figure out what I'm going to do!

Later on, we go to this small scrapbooking store. It was so cute! She had some really cute stamps from this one company. I think I liked the way the used the stamps to make some cards more than the stamps because the cards looked just AWESOME! I did buy one of the stamps though...hoping to put it to good use.

We went back to Archiver's and Madonna and I hit the die-cutting machines. They have the HUGE ones, Omigoodness! I can't believe some of the dies they had there! When we build our big house and I have my Huge scrapbooking room, I'm going to have all the cool toys and all the accessories that goes with the cool toys.

The only thing I accomplished, which wasn't even on my list besides helping Madonna mount her stamps, was doing some die-cuts! They had some cute ones...bunny, palm tree, stuff for cards and I can't remember what else I cut.

Anyways...it was an AWESOME day spent with two GREAT friends!!!! I'm so looking forward to the next time we can do that!

Bunny card

When I went to my old work a few weeks ago to drop off some SU loot for my 'girls', I chatted with one of them for a little bit. She was mentioning that her daughter was talking about my two kidz. She had come with her mom to a card class that I had and met Buu and Briggie.

So, I decided that Briggie and Buu needed to send a pic and card to their new friend.

Brown and pink CS are from either Joann's, Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I used Sizzix Bunny and Flowers. For the wording, I used CuttleBug Baby Face dies. I used a SU punch for the corners. And then, used Pink 'Bling' - Pink borders from Heidi Swapp. I really love Bling-Bling!!!!!

Bailey card

A friend of mine recently had to make a very hard and painful decision and put down her fur-baby, Bailey. He had lived a great, long life. I think he was like 15 years old or so. But still...having to take him to the vet, only to go home without him. How hard that must have been! It just broke my heart to hear that.
Anyways...I decided to make my friend a card. Unfortunately, like I told a friend on one of my Yahoo groups, the 'creativity bug' only gives me only one great idea for a card and that's it.
So....with the cards I've made recently, I think they are only so-so. Nothing spectacular and only accomplishing the simple task of getting out a card to the designated receiver.

Well....this is my card for Bailey, who now has crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. He's in a good place now. Bailey, you are greatly loved and missed.
I used Bazzill CS, Jolee's sticker - Cat (Bailey was gray). I used Cricut Doodlecharms for the heart and used CuttleBug Baby Face dies.

BookMooch!

BookMooch - This is a really cool place! I had heard about something like this, actually another site like that. But a friend of mine, on one of my 'craft' Yahoo groups and mentioned this and I joined this weekend!

It's a book trading (of sorts) group. You list books that you would like to give away. You get a tenth of a point (I think) for every book listed. You also need to add ten books first. You can then search the database for books that you want. If you find it, then you can request to 'mooch' it. Points are taken off for every book you mooch. But then you get books for every book someone mooches off of you!

I just sent out five books today. I'm glad to go through my books and give away the ones that I know I won't read any more. Though...I miss them! It's books...Brent and I don't give them away, no matter how bad it is!

Oh well. I'm getting books back though. I have three that is confirmed that I'm getting and one I'm waiting for an answer! So...it all works out, right? Give away books and get books to replace them! Yahooo!!!!

He got Carded!

We went out to dinner for Brent's birthday since we weren't up to it last night. After eating a Delicious meal at Hibachi, we went to Sam's to do our weekly Sam's shopping. Brent was dying to see if he would get carded for buying alcohol. So, we stopped by the liquor store at Sam's. We got a little thing of Arbor Mist. And Brent got carded!!! He got carded when he turned 30 and 40. He was just absolutely thrilled when he got carded at 50!!!! I just had to laugh.

Well...that was our fun for today!!

Pink and Black card

I made this card for one of my Pinecone Press bookclub. It was when the stamping book came out. It gave lots of different techniques.

I did the following:

Black Soot distress powder (Jim Holtz), using the flower from the Looks Like Spring set from SU stamped on pink Bazzil CS.

I stamped Thanks (from SU's Three Thoughts) with Jet Black Stazon on twill ribbon (SU).

I used my Cutterpede, the ZigZag one, for the pink CS under the twill ribbon.

Then, I used a two-way glue to put the Ultra-fine pink glitter from Stampendous! on the black CS.

I sent this card for a Pink and Black card swap.

Monkey card for my girl

This is a card that I made and am going to send out to my girl. She has a thing for monkeys right now. For her birthday, we found her a Cheeky Monkey (Webkinz). Since then, she is looking for another Webkinz monkey and has another monkey added to her collection!

But anyways...she's loving monkeys. So, when I was out and about, I decided to stop by one of my LSS and found a cute monkey clear stamp set from Stampendous. It was too cute that I HAD to buy it! I was so excited that I came up with this card for my girl. I even made one more to send for a swap that I am on.
I FINALLY used my Cricut to add to the card. I used it for the beige mat and for the palm tree. I was so proud of myself!

Christmas Card

This is a Christmas card that I made for a swap that I participated in. I thought it was really cute. I had bought a Christmas stamp set from SU and FINALLY used it! I even used a retired Designer Series paper that SU had and retired True Thyme CS. I love Stickles and used that on this card. I need BLING-Bling!!!!

Birthday Day

Today is my Hubby's Birthday!!!! We didn't do anything spectacular. He didn't want to. We went to the first showing of Journey To The Center Of The Earth. It was a toss-up between that and the new Mummy movie. The 3-D effects were cool! The over-all story was so-so.

After the movies we went to Barnes and Noble and Brent got books from me for his birthday. We came home after that and he opened a box from my mom, a package from Andrea, his daughter and a card from his mom.

We didn't do anything else after that. We debated about going to Hibachi, a Japanese teppanaki restaurant. But then we decided to do that tomorrow.

Brent received calls from his mom, Andrea, my mom and my brother. And several cards from me and the kids. Buu and Briggie gave him bunny cards.

Over all, it was a nice day for Brent. A low-key birthday, just his style.
